Create Alpha Within a Graphic

Alpha is supported on all Audience systems except those that are web based

The simplest method of using graphics that contain alpha is to create them independently, and them import them (Ctrl+I) into your CorelDraw layout.

What follows are very rudimentary instructions on how to add alpha to a pre-existing page or template. Look to the CorelDraw help file (F1) for more extensive instructions.

1.Edit the layout of a page or template that contains a graphic to open it in CorelDraw.

2.When Corel opens, right-click on the image and select Edit Bitmap to open in PhotoPaint.

3.Select one of the masking tools as shown below:

4.Use the tool on the area of the graphic you want to turn into alpha.

5.When the area is surrounded by moving lines, go to Mask > MaskOverlay. This colors the area that will become alpha – it turns red. If the wrong area is colored, go to Mask > Invert.

6.Go to File > Save As, give the file a name, select cpt as the file type, and save it in the c:\digimation\elements\images (or graphics) folder.

7.Exit PhotoPaint.

8.In CorelDraw, delete the current graphic and import the cpt file using the Import icon, not the Import Image icon. If you are using the simple CorelDraw toolbar, you do not have in import button. Do Ctrl + I and import the cpt file.
